As per the media reports, the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority has set a Reserve price of $ 31 million and $ 29 million for auctions for spectrums of 1,800 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands. The auction is likely to take place before the end of fiscal year 2021.
PTA has on boarded an international company – Frontier Economics Ltd – as a consultant to conduct auctions for the sale of spectrum in the 1,800 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands. The company presented its report on April 29, 2021 to the Next Generation Mobile Services Advisory Committee (NGMS), chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin.
Media Sources said the consultant recommended minimum Spectrum price of $ 30 million and $ 27.5 million as the base price for the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands.
In its proposals to the Advisory Committee, the PTA offered a base price of $ 31 million and $ 29 million for the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. Sources attended the committee’s meeting said a decision had been made to set a base price of $ 31 million and $ 29 million for the 1,800 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands, respectively, taking into account market demand, revenue generation and improved service quality.
