By the end of August, Commercial banks in Pakistan had approved over Rs. 59 billion worth of Loans under Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar government housing scheme.
SBP posted information about the scheme from its Twitter account, stating that banks had approved Rs 59 billion in loans by the end of August 31 and had already repaid Rs 11.5 billion.
“Payments increased by Rs 3.8 billion, or 49%, in August 21,” the central bank said, adding that the pace of availing loans by Pakistanis under Mera Ghar (MPMG) was initially slow due to a number of factors such as housing availability, which have now increased.
It states that in accordance with SBP guidelines, banks will accept MPMG applications from more than 8,000 branches across the country.
In addition, SBP has set targets for each bank under MPMG. Each bank has also established an electronic monitoring system and its own call center to facilitate the work of job seekers.
