The Federal cabinet has approved a special visa procedure to make it easier for Chinese to work on the China-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC) and those who wish bring investment in Pakistan.
Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhary said in a news interview with Federal Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar after the government meeting that a two -year work visa would be issued to Chinese working on CPEC projects within 48 hours and their security clearance will take place within 30 day.
“It will be easier for Chinese national businessmen to travel to Pakistan, which will receive two -year visas under the new regime,” he added.
The minister said that, a separate Green Channel, will be setup on airports for separate immigration procedures of such visas.
He further added that separate offices for processing CPEC visa applications will be set up within the Ministry of Interior and the Pakistani Mission to China.
Despite COVID19 pandemic situation, the work on China Pakistan Economic Corridor is in full swing with various projects currently underway and will be in harvesting position in couple of years. Moreover, the mega project of CPEC, ML-1 Railway has yet to start and this regard, planning phase has yet to be finished.
