Dubai-based carrier flydubai has achieved remarkable success during the summer season, recording over four million passengers between June and mid-September 2023, reflecting a substantial 30% increase compared to the same period in 2022. The airline accomplished this feat by operating more than 32,000 flights, serving a network of 120 destinations spanning 52 countries. Notably, flydubai expanded its seasonal summer routes with the addition of Corfu in Greece and Olbia in Sardinia, providing passengers with more choices for travel to popular vacation destinations.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, expressed satisfaction with the airline’s performance, emphasizing their commitment to facilitating trade and tourism by offering convenient travel options to previously underserved markets. He noted that flydubai’s efforts had allowed more than four million passengers to utilize Dubai’s aviation hub for their summer travels.

Al Ghaith also highlighted substantial year-on-year growth in demand for seasonal destinations, with a remarkable 70% increase in passenger numbers to Trabzon and over 40% to Bodrum this summer. He mentioned that these figures could have been even higher had the airline’s ordered aircraft been delivered on time, which would have enabled them to increase capacity on these popular routes.

flydubai currently operates a fleet of 78 Boeing 737 aircraft to serve its expanding network. However, the airline anticipates further delays in scheduled aircraft deliveries for the year. To address this issue, flydubai has signed an agreement to lease four Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft from October 17, 2023, to April 16, 2024. This arrangement will provide additional capacity across the flydubai network during upcoming peak travel periods.

Looking ahead, flydubai has announced the launch of operations to three new destinations. Daily service to Cairo is set to commence on October 28, with Poznan, the airline’s third destination in Poland, following on October 29. Mombasa is also scheduled to join flydubai’s expanding network starting from January 17, 2024. These developments underscore the airline’s commitment to meeting the diverse travel needs of its customers and expanding its global reach.
