Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsudam said today at a meeting with Federal Minister for Economy Omar Ayub Khan that Japanese companies want to invest in Pakistan’s auto industry.

The ambassador explained that one of the largest Japanese cars manufacturer is expected to make huge investments in Pakistan in the near future to improve the production capacity of its hybrid vehicles to meet the needs of the local market and export to other countries.

He also praised the government’s efforts to effectively control polio in Pakistan, where only one case of polio has been reported this year.

On the other hand, Khan praised Matsudam tremendous efforts to strengthen Pakistani-Japanese economic relations during his three-year term in Pakistan.

He also noted the tremendous potential for improving bilateral trade and investment between countries and for exporting skilled personnel to Japan.
