Lahore University of Management Sciences has received a $2 million donation from Mudassir Sheikha, CEO/Co-Founder of Careem, to create the Sekha Scholarship for Syed Babar Ali College of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) students. Under the scholarship, 100% tuition fee waiver will be provided for the top 10 students in need of funding.
“We are honored to express the confidence the Sheikh has shown in our ability to influence and we are grateful for this support,” said Syed Babar Ali, founder of the Chancellor of LUMS.
LUMS SBASSE hold undergraduate programs in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, and physics. SBASSE has highly qualified teaching staff which has been holding on to the LUMS philosophy without borders and has maintained interdisciplinary collaboration within SBASSE and other schools.
Shahid Hussain, President of LUMS, appreciated the donation and said: “We are extremely grateful to Mudassir Sheikh for creating worthy scholarships for students who work in the best educational institutions and for guiding our specialized faculty. This is the kind of support that leads us in the right direction. “
The scholarship will be awarded to top students in science and technology as financial aid by offering merit-based tuition exemptions and encouraging high quality education.
