Nestlé Pakistan has announced its progress on innovation in sustainable packaging by introducing paper straws in full, 180-250 ml ready-to-drink packages; making Nestlé Pakistan the first food and beverage company to do so.
The initiative is being taken to protect the environment, where Nestlé Pakistan is removing more than 400 million plastic straws from its system. Last year, the global company pledged to make all packaging 100% recyclable and reusable by 2025.
Nestlé products from NESVITA, MILO®, FRUITAVITALS, NESFRUTA and RTD NDCAFÉ will be immediately available with the paper straw market today
Paper straws in Nestlé ready-to-drink (RTD) products are made responsibly and meet strict quality requirements. All used paper straws are made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper and only from suppliers who have been audited to ensure that they obtain responsible paper.
Samer Chedid, CEO of Nestlé Pakistan, emphasized the path to changing packaging and emphasized: “Our vision is that nothing in our packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfills or in oceans, lakes and rivers. To achieve this, we are committed to ensuring that 100% of our packaging is reusable and recyclable by 2025, and the transition to paper straws is a major step towards this. “
