According to a statement issued by Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), a total of six security personnel were tragically killed in an armed attack that took place at two well sites in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region during the late hours of Monday, May 22. POL is one of the partners involved in the TAL Block project.
The attackers initiated gunfire at the Manzalai-08 and Manzalai-10 wells, prompting the operator MOL to swiftly shut down both wells from the central control room in order to prevent any further damage. As a result of the attack, approximately four million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas production and 24 barrels per day of oil production were lost.
POL reassured that all plants and field installations remained unharmed, and hydrocarbon production from the remaining wells was operating normally. The company currently holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL Block, which is recognized as one of the largest producing blocks in the country.
