Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume flights from Islamabad to Kabul next week, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesman told AFP on Saturday.

Kabul airport was severely damaged during the evacuation of more than 120,000 people, which ended with the withdrawal of US troops on August 30. The Taliban are trying to reopen it with technical assistance from Qatar.

‘PIA have received all the technical approvals for the operation,” Abdullah Hafeez Khan of Pakistan International Airlines told AFP.

“Our first commercial plane is due to fly from Islamabad to Kabul on September 13th.”

PIA received 73 requests from humanitarian organizations and journalists.
