As per the news sources, Samsung is in talks with a group of investors to set up a Mobile Phones assembly plant in Pakistan. Although the news is not officially confirmed and talks are still in the initial phase, there is clarity that One of the Investors along with Samsung is a South Korean investor already in the vehicle assembly business in Pakistan.
Samsung is most likely to bring another Korean company (already operating in Pakistan) to start a Mobile assembly unit in Pakistan.
Although the venture is still in the planning phase, however, sources have indicated that Samsung Intends to begin local assembling of mobile phones by December-2021.
Pakistan attracted $ 101 million in foreign direct investment in the telecommunications sector.
Pakistan rolled out a Mobile assembly policy in 2020 which favoured local production of Mobiles with lower duties.
