The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 2,185 new companies in the month of April-2021, marking a 186 percent rise from the same month last year, bringing the total number of registered companies to 141,805.

Streamlining registration process, making it easier for the public, and digitizing the processes of companies incorporation has resulted in significant growth of 186% in new companies registeration in April 2021.

About 99 percent of these companies are registered online, while 29 percent registeration were completed within a day, 220 foreign based individuals registered from abroad.

SECP Head Aamir Khan said that this rapid growth is due to digitalization and automation, the introduction of a simplified process for reserving and listing names, very low fees, and assistance provided by the SECP Business facilitation centres.

This month most companies were registered in the IT sector where 194 new companies were registered in one month. This was followed by the trading sector with the registration of 180 new companies, the construction industry – 117, import and export – 115 and consulting services – 110.
