- Suzuki ALTO best selling car in Pakistan in 2023
During July 2023, automobile sales witnessed a substantial decline, with only 5,100 units sold, marking a 57% decrease compared to the same period last year and a 16% decrease compared to the previous month. This drop can be attributed primarily to a 23% year-on-year reduction in overall production. This production decline resulted from a scarcity of imported raw materials, stemming from previous import restrictions imposed by regulatory authorities. Consequently, notable interruptions in operations were observed; PSMC’s plant remained closed for the majority of the preceding month, while INDU’s plant was non-operational for a continuous 10-day period in July.
In addition to these challenges, the market faced mounting inflationary pressures, leading to reduced demand for vehicles with engine capacities below 1000cc. This contributed to a 27% month-on-month decrease in sales for this category, with only 1,586 units sold during the month.
