In a briefing by the district administration team, the assistant project manager said that about 90% of the work on the incomplete KOTO Hydro Power Project has been completed and will be completed by December this year.
The Hydro station is planned to generate 40.8 MW of electricity, which will be added to the national grid.
The remaining 10% of the project will be completed by December. Work on the project began in February 2015 and was due to be completed in February 2019.
The project work was jointly initiated by Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) and GTZ Germany in 1992.
The project was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council on August 18, 2014 at an adjusted price of Rs. 13.9 billion, and the contract was awarded on December 10, 2014.
Koto Hhydro Power Project is located at Lower Dir, Khhyber Pakhtunkhwa and is roughly 160km North of Peshawar
