44 percent increase in Government Employees Housing Allowance

On Tuesday, the federal government approved a 44 percent increase in the current housing rent allowance for civil servants, is expected to provide monetary support for the employees as House rents has increased significantly over the years.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain told reporters after a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan that the raise in Allowance would apply to federal government officials of all grades.

He explained that the step is taken in connection with the rise in housing prices in large cities. He added that this is a normal practice.

As for inflation, he said that the issue was discussed in detail at a meeting where cabinet was told that prices for oil products are the lowest compared to the world. He added that gas prices in Pakistan are lower than in Qatar, which is one of the largest exporters of goods.
