Finance Minister Dr. Abdel Hafeez Sheikh has called for transparency in the auction process for next generation mobile services (including 5G License).

Hafeez Sheikh chaired the NGMS Spectrum Launch Advisory Committee meeting in Islamabad, where he urged consultants to be proactive and effectively meet deadlines.

The minister praised the sale of the maximum amount of spectrum and said it would contribute to overall economic growth by digitizing and improving the quality of broadband services in Pakistan.

The PTA Chairman briefed the Advisory Committee on the latest developments in the sale of affordable next-generation mobile services in the country.

The Committee was also informed that the consultant hiring process was completed in December 2020 in accordance with the procedure and that the newly appointed consultants are ready to sell the available spectrum in the current financial year.

Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister of Information and Communications Technology Syed Ameen al-Haq, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Trade Abdul Razzak Dawood, Chairman ZTP Major General (retd) Amir Azim Bajwa, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Executive Director of the Frequency Allocation Board and other high-ranking officials.
