Pakistan’s cement sector recorded a 40 percent growth in April 2021 dispatches, with total sales reaching 4.94 million tonnes, up from 3.52 million tonnes in the same month last year.

Domestic cement purchases increased to 4.1 million tonnes in April 2021, up from 3.27 million tonnes in April 2020, according to data released by the Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), indicating a steady increase of 24.29 percent.

With a similar trend, exports increased by 252% from 249,127 tons in April 2020 to 877,163 tons in April 2021.

Cement plants in the northern region sold 3.38 million tonnes domestically, up 15.33% from April 2020, when 2.93 million tonnes were sold. Likewise, plants in southern Pakistan posted a 100% increase in sales, supplying 688,239 tonnes to the domestic market. In April 2021. These mills shipped 342,594 tons in April 2020.

Exports from factories in the northern part of the country increased 155 times in volume from 1609 tons in April 2020 to 250 072 tons in April 2021. Exports from the southern plants increased by 153.35% in April 2021 to 627,091 tons, up from 247,519 tons. tons in the same month last year.

Cumulatively, for first ten months (July to April) of the current fiscal year (10MFY21), cement sales were 48.27 million tonnes, up 19% from the 40.55 million tonnes sold in the same period in the previous fiscal year.

In ten months, domestic production increased by 18.87%, from 33.86 million tons in July 2020-April 2021 period.

Exports increased from 6.7 million tons in the first ten months of the previous fiscal year to 8 million tons in July’2020-April 2021, marking an increase of 19.84%. During the first ten months, factories in the northern region supplied 34 million tons of cement to the domestic market, which is 17.51% more than 28.9 million tons in the same period last year.
