The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong has said that projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are moving in the right direction and will continue to develop at an accelerated pace.
He was Speaking to Secretary of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Mathar Niyaz Rana, the ambassador said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a pioneering project that shows the long-term friendship between the two brotherly countries and will bring progress and development to Pakistan.
He added, “The economic corridor is a product of the vision of the two brotherly countries. It goes beyond the traditional trade relations, and reflects the strong bilateral relations for ten years and common goals with a win-win situation for all.”
During the meeting, issues related to bilateral relations projects within the framework of the Economic Corridor were discussed and the course of the next tenth meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of the Corridor.
Secretary Planning CPEC is a project of great national importance for Pakistan, and will herald the development and prosperity of Pakistan and the region.
He said that Pakistan, in consultation with the Chinese government, had succeeded in expanding its activities to other priority areas, including social and economic development, poverty alleviation, and agricultural and industrial cooperation.
“The second phase will focus, among other things, on social projects aimed at improving the situation of the Pakistani people, and we are grateful to the Chinese government for expanding its scope, which will contribute to the sustainable development of Pakistan,” he added.
The minister emphasized that the government remains fully committed to realizing the potential and opportunities within the economic corridor. The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the meetings of Joint Working Groups (JWGs) for various sectors held in recent weeks.
