IMF spokeswoman Teresa Dubin Sanchez says the third wave of the corona virus may consider further delaying Pakistan’s debt repayment.
Addressing the virtual meeting, Teresa Dubin Sanchez said that keeping in view of the third wave of the corona virus, additional loans to Pakistan could be deferred, while IMF hasn’t given any dictation for SBP sovereignty and corona taxes. Taking tax measures is a matter of parliament.
IMF Representative Teresa Dubin Sanchez said IMF wants tax reforms and limited tax subsidies in Pakistan, while it want Rupee to stay stable against the dollar and help the poor.
She also said that it is important for Pakistan to reduce energy losses, adding that before Corona, Pakistan’s economy was moving towards stability, FATF targets were being met, loans and government guarantees in Pakistan accounted for 92.8% of the economy.
Teresa Dubin Sanchez said that the uncertain global situation is a problem for Pakistan while Pakistan has been extended assistance keeping in view the five basis.
Addressing the virtual meeting, Teresa Dubin Sanchez said that the first pillar is economic discipline, Pakistan needs to increase tax revenues, it is necessary to stop tax evasion.
