A 20-member delegation from the German Chamber of Commerce, which is visiting Pakistan to assess the country’s business and investment opportunities, met today with members of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce (OICCI) in Karachi. The German business delegation included Holger Ziegler, Consul General of Germany in Karachi and First Economic Secretary of the German Embassy in Islamabad.
M. Abdul Aleem, Secretary General of OICCI, elaborated on Pakistan’s liberal foreign direct investment (FDI) policy, which offers tremendous opportunities for new investment. Commenting on Pakistan’s investment opportunities, Aleem noted that “OICCI members have benefited from the adoption of a long-term vision, indicating that OICCI members have reinvested more than $18 billion over the past nine years, more than total foreign direct investment in the country during this period. “
OICCI shared with the German business delegation the results of the latest Business Confidence Index survey, conducted in May-July 2021, which shows that business confidence in Pakistan increased significantly by 59% during the most recent BCI survey conducted. In 2020, members of the OCCI were more optimistic where their level of trust has increased ”Aleem added.
