Pakistan’s federal government has released official guidelines for use of AstraZeneca vaccine as the country prepares to receive 17 million doses of the COVID-19 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, ARY News reported.
The AstraZeneca Vaccine Guide has been published by the National Committee of Experts on COVID-19 Vaccines.
According to the instructions, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be administered to people over 18 years of age. Citizens under the age of 18 will not receive the COVID-19 vaccine of Oxford-AstraZeneca.
The National Committee of Experts on Coronavirus Vaccines has advised people with a fever and who currently have the coronavirus not to take the AstraZeneca vaccine.
According to the instructions, after the first dose of the vaccine, you should take a break for 12 weeks. Health workers and citizens will also receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
Pakistan will be receiving 17 million doses of the COVID-19 Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the COVAX agreement.
The first shipment of seven million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine will arrive in Pakistan in early April. The next 10 million doses of the vaccine will be shipped to Pakistan in June.
Pakistan will receive a total of 45 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine under the COVAX scheme this year.
The World Health Organization has stated that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe for people 18 to 65 years of age or older.
