Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said on Saturday that five major federal government projects are underway in Karachi, while work on the GreenLine transport system continues and it will become operational by November this year.
At a press conference, Omar and Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi spoke about the development projects announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Karachi last year.
The multi-billion rupee package, part of the Karachi Transformation Plan, addresses chronic problems such as public transportation, water and sanitation, and solid waste management.
These projects are related to Pakistan’s ruling Tehreek-i-Insaf party, which is at odds with the Sindh government on various issues.
“The construction of the 22nd bus station on the green line has been completed, and a command and control center is being created,” Umar said. “This center is the central command of all lines (red, orange, yellow and green).”
