Pakistan imported $ 2.065 billion worth of mobile phones in the fiscal year 2020-21, up from $ 1.369 billion between 2019 and 2020, according to data released by the Pakistani Bureau of Statistics Office (PBS), marking an increase of 50.75 percent.

The total imports of telecommunications services into the country for the reporting period (July-June) 2020-2021 increased by 39.33 percent, increasing from $ 1.861 billion in 2019-2020 to $ 2.593 billion in 2020-2021.

In June’2021 along, Pakistani mobile phone imports were down 11.51 percent compared to imports in June-2020. PBS data showed that mobile phone imports in June 2021 totaled $ 204.676 million, down from $ 331.302 million in June 2020.

On monthly basis, mobile phone imports increased 16.62 percent in June 2021, up from $ 175.501 million in May 2021.

Total imports of telecommunications services to Pakistan were down 6.30 percent in June 2021, compared to imports in the same month last year. Imports of telecommunications services in June 2021 totaled $ 255.943 million, down from $ 273.166 million in June 2020.

Total monthly imports of telecommunications services increased by 16.02 percent in June 2021, up from $ 220,599 million in May 2021.
