Federal Minister of Defense Production Zubeida Jalal has said that joint efforts are being made for the socio-economic development of Baluchistan since the future of Pakistan depends on it. She was addressing at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of a shipyard in Gwadar.
Se said that not only a shipyard would be built here, but also a site for the repair of ships in the region, in addition, a training base would be located here.
She further highlighted that the project is a very important strategy in the region, and once completed, it will not only create employment opportunities for local residents but also increase the province’s income.

The Federal Minister said that in the first stage, people dealing with technical and administrative matters will come to the area from other parts of the country, and after training, local residents will be placed in the indicated positions.

The project office will be established in Gwadar, and work on it will begin 3 years after the feasibility study of the project.

Later, speaking about the event, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that the joint venture between the federal and provincial governments would usher in a new chapter of the province’s economic development.
Balochistan’s chief minister said the provincial government is planning to promote tourism in Gwadar, the marina, fish processing plants and other projects, while the shipyard project will not affect the local population.

At the ceremony, Balochistan Minister for Industries Hafiz Abdul Majid and Additional Secretary for Defense Production Ghulam Jaffer signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
