Pakistan and Tajikistan agreed to expedite the completion of various bilateral agreements with the aim of institutionalizing cooperation in various fields.
The development came during the fifth round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held online between Pakistan and Tajikistan, led by Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and the First Deputy Foreign Minister Khusrav Noziri.
The two sides evaluated the full spectrum of bilateral relations in the fields of politics, security, economy, trade, science and technology, education, culture and interaction, as well as cooperation in international and regional forums.
Recognizing the importance of Tajikistan as a gateway to Central Asia, the foreign secretary expressed his satisfaction with the increasing pace of cooperation with each other over the past three decades.
The foreign secretary stressed the need to increase bilateral trade and investment through commodity diversification, expanding trade contacts, resumption of air traffic, and expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
The next meeting of the Pakistan-Tajik Intergovernmental Committee and the Joint Working Group for Education, Science and Technology will be held in the near future.
