The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced that it will begin electricity generation from the 17 MegaWatts ‘Ranolia hydropower project’.

It is expected that the construction of the dam in the Kohistan region will bring the region Rs. 416 million a year. The power project was overseen by the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), a subsidiary of the provincial Ministry of Energy. which announced the completion of the project.

According to Project Engineer Syed Aziz Ahmed, it is an operating hydroelectric power plant with a total production capacity of 17 MW. It is located alongside Ranolia Khwar, a subsidiary of Dabir Khwar in the Kohistan region of the province.

Ahmed said that the energy generated by the project is distributed through the national grid.
