The influx of Roshan digital accounts (RDAs) by Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia has shown a serious upward trend following the recent visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Kingdom.

This was expressed by the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Reza Baqer during a meeting with the Prime Minister on Thursday.

Prime Minister Khan showed his satisfaction that the strengthening of the RDA will have a positive impact on foreign exchange reserves.

In his visit to Saudi Arabia in Mid-May, the Prime Minister addressed the Pakistani community in Jeddah at the ceremony for the promotion of Roshan Digital Accounts. He thanked the contribution of the Non-Resident Pakistani community living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the progress and economic development of Pakistan.

Last month, Prime Minister Khan appreciated Pakistanis overseas for their overwhelming response because they contributed over $ 1 billion to Roshan Digital Account. He thanked the State Bank and commercial banks for achieving this important success in such a short period of time.

Market Analysts believe that the large influx of dollars in RDA accounts is a sign of Pakistan’s economic confidence boost as the country managed to increase its foreign exchange reserves and recover from a huge $ 20 billion deficit in fiscal year 2018.
