The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Federal Government has recommended a Rs. 20.715 billion Karachi Circular Railway to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.
The CDWP also approved elimination of Level crossings from Loop Level of Karachi Circular Railway.
The CDWP met with Muhammad Jahanzaib Khan, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission at the Secretariat, on Tuesday to discuss and approve the Karachi Circular Railway project.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from the Planning Commission and federal ministries / departments, and representatives from provincial governments participated in videoconferences.
The proposed design of KCR will help remove 22 level crossings from route ranging from Drigh Road to Karachi city station.
