The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet gave go-ahead to the second phase of the Ehsaas emergency cash program, as the second phase involves increasing the number of permanent beneficiaries of Ehsaas Kafalat to eight million by June 2021 as part of ongoing National Socio-economic Registry Survey (NSER).

Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tareen through virtual attendance presided over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet in the Cabinet division.

In the second phase, All program beneficiaries will be given a six -month tranche (January – June 2021) to the tune of R. 12,000 per beneficiary under Ehsaas Kafalat.

Four million additional beneficiaries will be identified in the current NSER survey using higher eligibility threshold, while remaining below the poverty line.

These additional beneficiaries will also receive a one-off emergency cash assistance of Rs 12,000 per beneficiary to compensate for unemployment caused by COVID-19.

The financial impact of providing assistance to these beneficiaries is estimated at Rs. 48 billion.
