World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine attended a meeting with the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tareen, where he shared a proposal to extend a $ 200 million loans for various housing interventions.
Mr. Shaukat Tareen iwas heading a meeting with Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Chairman Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Haider (retired) and World Bank Country Director to consider additional resources for housing finance in Pakistan.
The statement said that Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr. Waqar Masood was also present at the meeting.
The World Bank’s Country Director emphasized that the World Bank will continue supporting the government’s efforts to strengthen the housing sector, more importantly, low-cost housing.
The finance minister praised the World Bank’s support and stressed the importance of the housing sector in restoring economic growth.
The finance minister stressed that the housing sector is a priority sector of the government and asked all interested officials in the coming days to complete all the technical details and procedures related to the proposed World Bank financing.
