Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, chairman of the COVID-19 task force has said both government and private sector companies are permitted to bring COVID19 vaccines in Pakistan, but the private sector will have to first register their vaccines with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). He further added that “DRAP will inspect and monitor the quality and price of vaccines from private companies.”

Dr. Rahman said vaccination for the general population will between June to September this year. He further said that “Pakistan is exploring the possibility of obtaining vaccines from all companies whose vaccines have been approved internationally.”
Earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan has said that Pakistan will get its first COVID-19 vaccine from China’s Sinopharm in “early February” and vaccination will be given to Front line Health workers on Priorty basis. Pakistan expect vaccination of around 1.1 million doses by March-2021.
