Ministry of Maritime Affairs (MoMA) has announced that it is working on a plan to develop more docks for handling ships and boats at various Ports in the country. These docks will also be used to launch ferry service soon.
The ministry is also eyeing to initiate work on building regular ships as part of the blue economy initiative in order to make Pakistan a Maritime nation. As per the details, the plan involves working on the promotions of coastal tourism.
A spokesman of the Ministry of Maritime Affaris said that Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has a capacity to handle 150 million tons. He said that Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi was willing to build a train line and a freight corridor which will start somewhere from KPT and go through the water to Port Qasim.
