Pakistani ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Lt. Gen. (retired) Bilal Akbar said on Wednesday that Pakistan-Saudi Arabia flights will soon resume to bring Pakistani workers back to the kingdom.
He said the embassy is contacting the Civil Aviation Authority in the kingdom to resume flights.
The ambassador said that about 7,000 illegal immigrants from Pakistan have approached the Saudi Arabian authorities with requests for repatriation. He added that once these people are approved, more applications will be submitted.
Early on June 4, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that several categories of employees in both the public and private sectors were exempted from on site jobs as part of precautions to curb the spread of Covid-19.
