With an expanded Airport coming up in Gwadar, PIA is eyeing increased presence in the city which is going to be a commercial centre in future.
PIA CEO Air Marshal (Retd)Arshad Malik during his visit ot Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industries has mentioned that PIA will gradually increase its international and domestic flights to and from New Gwadar Airport.
On his arrival, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Muhammad Nassir Mirza welcomed CEO PIA , along with officials of the chamber and members of the business community.
CEO PIA gave assurance to the chamber that PIA will look into requests for further flights based on commercial viability. He further mentioned that due to no formal refueling mechanism at existing Gwadar Airport and limited runway strip, the flights to Gwadar are operated via Karachi.
PIA intends to initiate flights from Islamabad, USA and Europe to Gwadar while increasing the flights from Afghanistan for Gwadar.
