US President Joe Biden on Tuesday selected a Pakistani American legal scholar Lina Khan as head of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Lina Khan is the fifth Pakistani-American to be selected in the Biden Administration ever since his election.

As per The New York Times, Lina Khan was born in London to Pakistani parents who emigrated to the United States when she was 11. She has been a professor at Columbia University Law School and is known for his work on the antitrust landscape in the USA. Just aged 32, Ms. Lina Khan is the youngest chairperson of the FTC in its history, which oversees competition and consumer protection in industry and ensures digital privacy

Earlier during the week, Zahid Qureshi was confirmed as a judge for the District of New Jersey by a vote of 81-16 in US Senate. Mr Qureshi is the first Muslim federal judge in US history, media reports. Mr. Zahid Qureshi is “the first Muslim Article 3 judge in the history of USA.”
