Dukan.pk, an e-commerce platform that allows anyone to create an online store with a smartphone, announced today that 100,000 small businesses in Pakistan have opened online shopping with its mobile app. This is a significant achievement for Dukan, which started operations just five months ago.

Dukan’s growing entrepreneurs include both regular and home-based sellers across all sectors, including food, fashion, electronics and retail. By offering free technical tools to sell online, these sellers can enter markets outside of physical proximity to grow their businesses. Small businesses form the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, accounting for nearly 90 percent of all businesses in the country, employing 80 percent of the non-agricultural workforce and generating 40 percent of GDP annually.

Dukan’s mission is to make everyone an entrepreneur by providing an easy-to-use platform in the local language to digitize their business through inventory management, online payments, shipping, digital credit and ad tech to get orders on social media.

Led by a team of technology veterans, Dukan aims to inspire, educate, and connect a growing community of emerging e-commerce pioneers. Ducan believes that anyone with a smartphone can make a difference.
