In a bid to promote e-commerce in the COVID19 pandemic, YouTube has announced the introduction of the YouTube Live Streaming shopping option which is currently being offered to select users for trial.
It aims to increase e-commerce and monetization tools. YouTube announced earlier this year that it would offer online shopping options on its platform. Currently only serious and reputable brand manufacturers are given the option to try. The goal is to immediately buy standard products from YouTube.
This option is similar to TikTok in that items are bought and sold thanks to streaming. YouTube previously said in a research that 33% of its users admit that they buy items simply by looking at comments and ads on YouTube. Thus, the popularity of Product videos has increased by 400% in just one year.
